The Indian Himalaya is divided into 12 administrative units. Out of these 9 are full-fledged states, while the rest form part of larger administrative units.

and 1 district of West Bengal belongs to Himalaya region.
@The capitals of Uttar Pradesh, Assam and
West Bengal states are Lucknow, Dispur (Guwahati) and Calcutta, respectively.
The statehood is being claimed for the separate hill region in these respective
states.
$Area includes 78,114 and 37,555km2
occupied by Pakistan and China respectively and 5,180km2 handed
over by Pakistan to China
