Information & Communications Technology (ICT)
The Internet lab has been established in the Institute in the month of December, 2014 with the objective, “to provide better Internet and allied IT services to the end users”. The internet lab is fully air conditioner (AC) and well furnished with latest fixtures and furniture for seating arrangements. The local area network (LAN) with CAT 6.0 UTP network cable has been established in the lab for distribution of internet service within the desktop computer connected with LAN through Cisco switches and routers. The LAN is well connected with 250 Mbps internet leased line which has been taken from BSNL, Almora on optical fibre cable.
The services provided by the Information & Communications Technology (ICT) are:
Internet, e-mail and web services
Downloading and uploading of data
Web / Application based video conferencing through Webex, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet etc.
Software and hardware related troubleshooting
Technical support and help to the end users of the Institute
Management of proxy server (RedHat Linux Enterprise Edition 5.0)

Remote Sensing Facility
Keeping in view of interdisciplinary research activities of the Institute, a network based Modelling and Statistical Computing laboratory is established at GBPNIHE HQs, Kosi-Katarmal, Almora. The foremost aim of the centre is to set up a platform for interdisciplinary research on various modelling aspects and to provide a centralized facility for data analysis through collaborative work using different models/software (e.g., STATISTICA, MATLAB, etc.).
Objectives:
To establish & strengthen centralized platform for modelling and simulation work at Institute.
To facilitate numerical computing and statistical analysis with particular emphasis on interdisciplinary research activities.
To provide regular hands-on-training to the researchers of the Institute on different available mathematical and statistical software/packages.
Resources/Facilities Available:
Statistical Analysis Software (STATISTICA, Version 8.0).
To facilitate numerical computing and statistical analysis with particular emphasis on interdisciplinary research activities.
