Lecture by Adv. Renu Kapkoti on Key Provisions of the PoSH Act

An awareness program on the PoSH Act was organized by the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of the Institute and hosted by Dr. Mithilesh Singh, Chairperson (ICC), along with Dr. Harshit Pant and Dr. Satish Arya, Members of the ICC. The session featured an informative lecture by Adv. Renu Kapkoti, invited legal representative of the ICC, on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (PoSH Act). She highlighted the importance of the Act in ensuring safe, inclusive, and dignified workplaces for women. Adv. Kapkoti explained the definition of sexual harassment under the Act and the structured redressal mechanism it provides. She emphasized the mandatory constitution of an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) in organizations with 10 or more employees, outlining its powers to conduct inquiries and examine evidence. She also discussed the role of the Local Complaints Committee (LCC) for the unorganized sector and small establishments, and stressed that non-compliance with the Act can lead to serious penalties.
