Introduction
G. B. Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment (GBPNIHE) is an autonomous Research and Development Institute of Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change, Govt. of India, New Delhi. The institute is named after Bharat Ratna, Late Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant, who was a great freedom fighter, statesman and an imminent scholar. It was established in 1988, the birth centenary year of Pt. Pant, at Kosi-Katarmal, which is a small settlement in close proximity to his birth place – village Khoont, in Almora, Uttaranchal. The inception of the institute is also an acknowledgement to the uniqueness and diversity of Himalaya, its environments, and the developmental needs of its people.
Objectives of the Institute
Undertake in-depth research and development studies on environmental problems of the Indian Himalayan Region (IHR) and Shivalik Ranges.
Identify and strengthen the local knowledge of the environment and contribute towards strengthening researches of regional relevance in the scientific Institutions, Universities/ NGOs and Voluntary agencies working in the Himalayan region, through interactive networking.
Evolve and demonstrate suitable technological packages and delivery systems for sustainable development of the region in harmony with local perceptions.

Thereafter, information relevant to the Tenders / EOI will be moved under archival category of Tenders / EOI section.
Photo / Event / Activities Gallery - Information published under category of Photo / Event / Activities Gallery will remain within active published information on the website for period of current year and 1 year later than current year(based on the date on which event / activity took place). Information beyond the mentioned period will be moved to archival of Photo / Event / Activities Gallery which can accessed on the basis of specific year.
Spotlight / Updates / Notices - Information published under category of Spotlight / Updates / Notices will remain within active published information on the website till the last date of the Spotlight / Updates / Notices information (or till the information is considered as applicable). Thereafter, information relevant to the Spotlight / Updates / Notices will be moved under archival category of Spotlight / Updates / Notices section.

Publication - Information published under the domain of publications (Journal Publication, Annual Reports, Policy Briefs, Newsletters, Books, Reports, Blogs etc.) does not comes under the Content Archival Policy.
G.B. Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment is an autonomous body which operates under the Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change and play a crucial role in disseminating several government information and service apart from its research‘s mandate in Indian Himalayan Region.
